Flat Classes

There are six flat classes:

Class 1 - Introductory Equitation

Eligible riders are those who have had no more than 24 weeks of mounted instruction and have not competed in a competition that has required them to canter.

Class 2A - Pre-Novice Equitation

Eligible riders are those who have had more than 24 weeks of mounted instruction and have not competed in a mounted competition which required that they jump more than 18 inches.

Class 2B - Novice Equitation

Eligible riders are those who have not competed in any over fences class that required them to jump higher than 3 feet nor competed in any recognized competitions.

 

Class 3 - Limit Equitation on the Flat

Eligible riders are those that have not won more than five hunt seat equitation classes on the flat at recognized competitions.

Class 5 - Intermediate Equitation on the Flat

Eligible riders are those that have won between six to ten hunt seat equitation class on the flat at recognized competitions.

 

Class 7 - Open Equitation on the Flat

Eligible riders are those that have won more than ten hunt seat equitation classes on the flat at recognized competitions or have placed in the USEF Talent Search Finals or Top Ten in the Maclay Finals.
