Colorado College Equestrian Team
Colorado College, Colorado Springs
We are a club sport team dedicated to horsemanship and equitation. We provide CC students with the opportunity to participate in lessons, competitions, and social events where they may improve and showcase their skills while bonding as a team.
ABOUT COLORADO COLLEGE EQUESTRIAN
We are a year round club sport team, bringing together students who share a dedication to both horses and their academic studies. Emphasizing education, community, and the care of horses, our goal is to enable CC students to take lessons and compete in hunt seat. We are welcoming of all abilities!
We are in Zone 8 Region 5 of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA). Our team shows in equitation competitions across Colorado, Nebraska, and Wyoming. The focus of equitation is on evaluating the rider's position and their ability to effectively ride the course. IHSA competitions broaden the accessibility to horseback riding by having a catch-riding system, which involves riders drawing a horse's number randomly and riding that horse with no prior preparation.
OUR BARN
We are fortunate to have our lessons at Lillywood Show Stables, located in the Black Forest, Colorado. The stables are approximately a 25-minute drive from the campus, and we organize carpools for lessons three times a week. Lillywood offers a variety of facilities, including an indoor arena, an outdoor arena, a cross-country field, and trails, complemented by spacious turnout areas.
